Randy Announces a Timeout

As usual, Ann was supposed to stay at the IU Med Center until Friday this week, but we drove back to Evansville this afternoon.

In consultation with her doctors, we decided Ann needs a break. The treatment has just wiped her out. So she’s going to enjoy a long weekend at home and finish up next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

We have to remember that Ann is sick from the treatment, not the cancer. If fact, we trust that we’ve got the tumor on the run. Her doctors are thrilled that the cancer marker in her blood has been cut in half. It is difficult to celebrate when Ann feels this bad, but this is very encouraging news.

We’ll celebrate with a double order of bang-bang shrimp and pan-seared tuna at Bonefish at a date to be determined!

So all of you who have been praying during radiation at 10:30 AM Evansville time can hold off until next week. For the remainder of this week, let’s pray that Ann gains enough strength to endure the remaining treatments.

We love you all!

    Dear Ann,
As I read your latest entry, I am grateful that the Doctors have allowed you to come home for a break and a rest. Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz said, “theres no place like home”. :) Truly I pray that over the course of these next several days that you are granted some peace, refreshment, and a strength. You are such an encouragement to so many. I read the entry by the woman in Melbourne, Fla and just thought how awesome our Lord is–he has prayer warriors all over lifting you up. You are an amazing woman and an inspiration to all who know you. You are in our daily prayers and we are praising our Father for the miracles He is and will continue to perform in your life.
    Much love,
    Susan and Jon Austin

    Dear Ann and Randy:

Timeouts are a good thing! I hope this time at home with your family allows you to regain some strength so you can return to IU and continue fighting this cancer with a vengence. I’m so pleased to hear that your numbers have been cut in half — what a blessing! Much love to you and your family.

    Love,

    Cindy Grisso

    Ann,

It is great to hear that your markers are dropping. That is great news!!!! Please do not get discouraged that you need some breaks in treatment. My mother is also in your program and breaks seem to be the norm. Enjoy them as best you can. You are almost through the difficult part.

    Hi Randy, Ann,

I had not heard of your “trial” until this morning when I visited the website. I can’t seem to find the words to express what I’m feeling right now. We all get so involved in our little worlds thinking how difficult we have it, but then God opens our eyes to the troubles around us so we can put our tiny troubles into perspective.

Ann, I found you such a gracious and helpful person when we met last fall at the SBA. I also remember your comments about my new laptop, explaining that the keys were falling off of yours. I read one of your blogs that mentioned some missing keys, so I’m assuming it is the same laptop. So far, mine has kept all its keys. :-)

I will be praying for you and your family. God is the greatest source of strength to help us through life’s many trials, as you already know. I will be requesting prayer at my church as well as my extended family.

May God bless you with peace and strength through the rest of this week as you enjoy being back with your family and recover from your treatments.

    Sandy Pickett

Ann and Randy–Just a note to let you know that you are on the the prayer list at Cumberland Chapel Church in Fairfield–we are only 20 on a good Sunday but He is amidst us. I was diagnosed with 2 cancers May 30–feel such comfort in hearing the prayers for me and my caretakers. Hope the days off do you good and the last 3 go by fast. All the best–Marilyn Robinson
