A Pet Scan

I told you in an earlier blog about the cat who likes to catch flies. Sunday night, I watched him play with a cricket. Now if that isn’t amusing, I don’t know what is.

Poor cricket…all the bounce eventually went out of his step and the cat had to put him out of his misery. Yuck. We don’t have many bug problems in the house because it seems they are very tasty.

The other thing the cat(Charlie Doogan is his name by the way) likes to do is give me a good sniffing. I refer to it as a pet scan.

Tomorrow I get to experience the medical version of a pet scan. I don’t have to tell you that I am suffering some anxiety about this. My doctor ordered one after my blood results came in yesterday showing another increase in the tumor markers. I’m not sure when I’ll get the results back, but I am praying the cancer has not spread.

My hair is also falling out like crazy. It’s odd that the chemo is just now doing this. I know I shouldn’t be upset about hair…after all, hair is dead. And men look great without hair. But I’ve always sort of liked having hair. My friend, Ginny Shrode who is a breast cancer survivor, is just as gorgeous without hair as she is with hair. So I’m sure she can provide me with some beauty tips.

Finally, yesterdays treatment left me feeling like I have the flu. I’ve spent most of the day in my jammies. I also have to take shots every day this week to boost my counts and those make my bones ache. But I’m reading a good book called, “Quaker Summer.” And I have a pile of others on my nightstand waiting for me. So between the books and preparing for Chrysalis, I hope I can keep my mind busy. Oh, and maybe I can find a few more crickets to let in the house!

Much Agape,
Ann

Ann! If you’re looking for a bigger thrill, wait for Andrew to nap on the couch and put the cricket on him. Be camera ready. I miss you guys, and you’re still in my
thoughts. Hope all is alright, and I plan to see you around Thanksgiving. :) Love you guys!

Hope you know that as you and Randy cover the Chrysalis 27 team and caterpillars in prayer, Glenn and I will be praying for the two of you. There is a battle going on and Sunday night many will witness the victory that was won at Camp Reveal during Chrysalis. You too, my dear, will be gorgeous without hair, because beauty comes from within. You radiate beauty, Ann! Love you guys, Susan

Hi Ann. I’m sending lots of happy thoughts in your direction. At least with the PET scan you get to sit in a dark room and relax while the nuclear sugar does
its thing. It’s hard to stay positive during that time, but I try to use as it a mini meditation session. I focus on the word ‘heal,’ willing my mind to make it happen.

Charlie sounds way cool! We just adopted a black cat and named him Charlie, although he seems to like Chuck better.
    Warm hug,
    Kate

    Ann,

I’m sorry to hear you have been suffering after the treatments. My mom took dexamethazone with her treatments. We had to ask for it. She would take an IV of it just before the gemzar. That would keep her feeling good that day and the next. The third and fourth days she would take dexamethazone orally. She she would be fine. You may want to ask Dr. Chiorean about that. I will pray that your treatments are easier on you and that they are effective.
